Our Womens Scratch League Finals event took place last Sunday (12th October) at East Herts GC, who were holding the event as overall Champions of the previous years event.Â
The day saw 3 of the 4 finals take place, playing 5 x 18 scratch singles matches to determine in each case who would be the winners in each division. Sadly the Division 4 match between Bishops Stortford B & Ashridge A did not take place as Ashridge could not raise a team for the day, therefore Bishops Stortford B won Division 4 by walkover.Â
The Division 1 match saw holders East Herts A take on Essendon A to determine our overall league champions. Home advantage along with home support meant that Essendon were up against it from the off and it proved decisive. East Herts led by the youthful pair of Ava Gadsby and new recruit Tess Samuels won their matches at a canter and the Essendon tail couldn’t recover enough and East Herts retained their Ovaltine Trophy for 2025.Â
In the Division 2 match Hadley Wood took on South Herts and although not the closest encounter we’d have on the day, Hadley Wood narrowly won the match to be crowned Division 2 winners.Â
The Division 3 match required extra holes to separate Letchworth and Brocket Hall, with the score at 2 for Brocket and 1 to Letchworth, 2 matches went to extra holes to determine the winners. Letchworth ended up turning both to wins to turn the match round and claim the Division 3 title in dramatic fashion.Â
Our thanks to East Herts GC for hosting us on the day and our congratulations to all those who reached the finals this year.
