Season ending win for the County Womens Seniors Team

Herts Senior Women 4.5 - 2.5 Berks Senior Women at East Herts

Report from Womens Seniors Team Manager Lindsay Murray-Gray;

Inspired by the Lionesses, the Herts Senior Women rallied after their recent defeat and finished their campaign in the BBHH&O league on a high by winning a home fixture against Berkshire at home at East Herts GC.

As ever this year, the weather was at the forefront of everyone’s minds as there was a storm warning in place for the time they were playing.  Decision made, the team duly set off whilst the captains discussed what the process was if the teams were called off and not allowed to go back on in a short amount of time.  Thankfully this ruling was not required and the players made it round dry as the storm had passed to the south of them leaving East Herts looking beautiful bathed in the afternoon sunshine.

Close matches upfront meant the tail end of the team had to step up to secure a win, and that’s exactly what they did.  Beating Berkshire was evidence in spades that the team had indeed employed the resilience that the Lionesses displayed and was discussed at length prior to the Hampshire match.

Well done to the team and thank you for representing Hertfordshire in the BBHH&O league this year.  The team finished the season with two wins, two losses and, with one match outstanding, Herts are sitting second in the table to winners Hampshire.
