The Hertfordshire Golf Club welcomed the best U14 boys from around the county for our annual Boys U14 County Championship.
Weather conditions were perfect, a little cloudy, a nice temperature and very little wind to contend with.
Scoring reflected this, with almost half the field of 35 players scoring level to their handicaps or better.
The main U14 overall prize winner was to be claimed by Lenny Key of The Hertfordshire. With home course knowledge sometimes being a blessing or a curse, in Lenny’s case it definitely proved a blessing. After parring the opening hole, he then strung together 4 birdies in a row to get off to a roaring start. Despite a few dropped shots here and there, Lenny was the only player to break par on the day, returning a -1 69, with a comfortable 3 stroke margin of victory over runner up, Johnny Marriott of Essendon.
There were many titles on offer during the day.
Lenny naturally finished in first place in the U14 only category, Jack Wilkins of Harpenden Common won the U13 title with a 74 and Johnny Marriott took the U12 title with a 72.
In the overall handicap category, Sam Sellers of Harpenden collected the overall nett winner prize with a fabulous -9Â 61.
