Men’s County Seniors Team finish 3rd at England Golf County Qualifier in Oxon

3rd place finish of 11 competing Counties in England Golf Regional County Qualifier

Report from Mens Seniors Captain Simon Kay;

Match report – SEG Seniors’ Qualifying (6 Man) 2024

This year’s event was hosted at Heythrop Park GC in Oxfordshire. The format was the usual best 5 scores from 6 per round. The course is on a massive piece of land with plenty of good and different holes. The challenge of the hot weather, for once, would be matched by the distance in walking the course, with long walks between holes.

The first round certainly put us in a good position with notable rounds from David Lang, Mark Gershinson and Mike Ready. After some much needed rest Day 2 presented us with a good opportunity to progress to the National finals. David Lang got us off to an excellent start with a 71, round of the day. Paul Nancarrow also had an excellent 75 but with other good scores from the other counties we final ended the event in 3rd place.

Many thanks to County President Robin Colbourne for not only making the trip to support the team but also being on bag duty for county legend John Ambridge.

A good few days, once again showing our status in the South East region. As usual, great team spirit displayed by our players.
