The County Men’s Seniors final friendly, before the South East League season starts, was away to Suffolk last Friday (21st Apr). It was a long way to travel for 18 holes but we were made very welcome by the Suffolk team. The match was played at Diss Golf Club, which as a course to be fair has struggled in the recent poor weather, as clearly the early growing season was slightly late in the area.

The match was 12 aside which allowed plenty of the squad to get a game. Whilst the course was tricky in parts there wasn’t any clear home advantage.

As usual, it seems, our middle order proved far too strong for the Suffolk team with the result of 8-4 to Hertfordshire. Wins came from David Lang, Jason Court, Mike Ready, Michael Charles, David Scammell, Bob Peacock, Dominic Ronan and Ken Whitton.

Whilst the weather of late hasnt helped any golfers preparation for the season ahead, our friendlies have provided some early season competitive golf. Our first match is in a few weeks against Middlesex Away.

Thanks as always to everyone who travelled and played.
