A sunny Old Fold Manor played host to the County Men’s Seniors Challenge.
An 18 holes Handicap Stableford Championship for those aged 55+ with a handicap between 5.5 to 28.4 proved very popular and was oversubscribed, although the eventual field dropped down to 65 due to a few last minute withdrawals.
The players were very complimentary of the course and especially the greens, however, with them running very fast, it tripped a few players up and many declaring to have had 4 putts.
Despite the challenges on the greens, there was some fantastic scoring. In the 75+ category Terry Croker of Bishop’s Stortford scored 36 points to claim top position and 37 points scored by Claus Crede claimed the prize in the 65+ category.
In the Overall Championship results, 3rd place went to Jeff Duffy of Moor Park with 37 points, Runner Up with 38 points was Graham Goodkind of Hartsbourne, however it was a great score of 39 points by Peter Crawford of Arkley that took the Overall Win and claimed the ‘Bear Tusk’ Veterans Trophy.
