Paul Nancarrow of Old Fold Manor came out victorious in both the Men’s Senior County Championship and Men’s Senior Nett Championship.

The 2 day event, hosted by Paul’s home club of Old Fold Manor concluded with a dramatic playoff for the Senior County Title.

After the first day of competition, Mike Ready of The Melbourne Club’s excellent round of 71 around a lush and challenging course, saw him hold a 1 shot overnight lead and 5 ahead of the eventual winner.

Day 2 proved to be even more challenging as the weather deteriorated fast, early sunshine was soon replaced by rain that didn’t abate from then on to the conclusion.

However, it didn’t seem to affect Paul, as he came storming through the field with a sublime round of 70 which automatically secured him the nett trophy on countback. However, countback not being used for the main title, meant that Paul and Mike would venture back out into the rain for a sudden death playoff.

It was Paul’s solid par 4 up the first hole that would prove enough to add the Senior Title to the nett trophy he had won moments earlier.

Mike Ready did have the consolation of winning the over 65’s category with a 3 shot victory over Runner Up, John Ambridge of Moor Park.
