Mens Seniors Team finish in 3rd place at Regional Qualifier in Essex

Herts Mens Seniors finish in the bronze medal position at Chelmsford, Essex

Report from Mens Seniors Team Captain Simon Kay;

Match report – Mens South East Group Seniors Qualifying (6 Man) 2025

This year’s event was hosted at Chelmsford GC in Essex. The format was the usual best 5 scores from 6 per round with Essex being great hosts. The course, a Par 68, was a challenge for all exaggerated by the bouncy conditions and very tricky greens.

The first round saw the team struggling on the greens, apart from David Lang who had an excellent 69. This left us mid-table, but everyone realised that a few shots saved would elevate us up the leaderboard due to all Counties registering similar scores. This was certainly the case with our counting players improving on their Day 1 score, notably John Ambridge and Paul Nancarrow with 71s and an excellent 68 by Paul Marshall. From an individual perspective Paul was 6th and David 3rd.

With these notable scores we climbed the leaderboard and at one stage, with the leading counties registered mixed scores, our hopes were elevated. In the end we came 3rd, one off 2nd spot and six shots behind winners Sussex, who now progress to the National Finals.

A good few days, once again showing our status in the South East region. As usual, great team spirit displayed by our players. A big thank you to Matthew Cohen for his support at the event.
