Mens Seniors Team finish 2nd in Regional Foursomes Qualifier

Mens Seniors Team fail to convert home advantage at West Herts

Report from Mens Seniors Captain Simon Kay;

Match report – Southern Counties Men’s Seniors Foursomes Qualifier

This year’s qualifier was held at our home club West Herts GC with teams from Essex, Kent and Middlesex. As winners of the title there was some confidence for a good performance in the qualifier. The course played well on another fine day.

The morning results were reasonable with victories from the dream team of John Ambridge/David Lang, Paul Marshall/Nick Leconte and Phil Embleton/Simon Kay. Unfortunately, our other 2 pairs lost to Kent, who fielded a strong team winning all 5 matches in the morning. The afternoon saw victories for Mike Ready/Paul Nancarrow, Paul Marshall Marshall/Nick Leconte and a half from Garry Cooper/Mark Gershinson.

This gave us a total of 5 ½ points for the day, which whilst good enough for 2nd place wasn’t enough to challenge Kent who won 9 of their 10 matches on the day.

Thanks to the team and all those who came to support on the day.
