Match report –League Herts Seniors v Essex (Home)
The Mens Senior County team played its second South East Group league match of the season on a lovely sunny day at our current home venue, West Herts Golf Club. The match was seen as a key game in the League as Essex had already had two good away results and an 100% record. It also had the extra dimension of revenge for last year’s away match which we so narrowly lost.
We got off to a good start on the day with wins from David Lang and John Ambridge. This was followed by good win in the middle order by Nick Leconte. Unfortunately, others in our middle order didn’t manage points, but the Berkhamsted duo of Jason Court and Paul Marshall produced early victories to bring some comfort. This left home favourite Dominic Ronan to produce the final win and maintain a 1up lead down the last.
An excellent result on a course that was tricky due to the very dry and firm conditions. As always West Herts looked after us very well, which is much appreciated. A further thanks to Matthew Cohen who was on hand to support the team throughout the day.
This leaves us joint top in the League with BB&O, although they have played a game more.
