Our County Annual General Meeting (AGM) took place yesterday, Monday 3rd March, kindly hosted by Harpenden Common Golf Club.

Over 45 people were in attendance on the floor, representing 22 of our affiliated clubs.

The highlights of the meeting saw some key changes in personnel within the County Board and Administration. The County Presidency changed hands with outgoing Robin Colbourne of Moor Park replaced by Jane Walter of Harpenden Common. Robin becomes Immediate Past President for a term of 1 year, with the main role to provide contingency for Jane should she be unavailable for any occasion. Jane’s role as County President lasts 2 years, so it is expected that she’ll be succeeded by the next President Elect in due course. We thank Robin for his diligent service and offer our congratulations to Jane.

Within the Hertfordshire Golf Board of Directors, 3 incumbents came to the end of their term and did not seek re-election. These were Finance Director Frank Clapp, Player Development Director Richard Blanchflower and Director without Portfolio Chris Medley. They were replaced by Don Ward of Verulam as Finance Director, Karen Bond of East Herts, an exisiting Director stepped up to take on the Player Development role, thereby creating a further Director without Portfolio vacancy, and these were filled by Liz Perrottet of Berkhamsted and Suzanne Thrower of Essendon. Marketing & Comms Director Janet Biscoe was also re-elected to the Board. Our thanks to those standing down for their considerable efforts on behalf of HG and we look forward to working with our new recruits!

Finally, John Ambridge of Moor Park was elected as an Honorary Member of Hertfordshire Golf in recognition of his longevity of county representation, 55 years according to John in his speech!, and various outstanding playing achievements in the amateur game, both individually and within County Teams. Congratulations to John – very well deserved and a real legend of Hertfordshire Golf!
