The County Fourball Championship took place earlier this week, Tuesday 29th April, played on the majestic Melbourne course at Brocket Hall Golf Club. The event was bathed glorious bright and warm weather, highly unseasonal for an English Springtime and very unlike the 2024 event played at Stocks, where we had a brief storm delay!
42 pairs of golfers from across the County took part, with both male and female pairs playing 18 holes fourball betterball stableford to determine our champions.
Best score on the day was 43 points achieved by 2 pairs, seperated only on a back 6 countback. Fantastic scores on a difficult golf course. The winners courtesy of that countback were David Miles & David Watson of Rickmansworth, who pushed the home female pair of Sooying Foster and Cathy Gosling into 2nd place. 3rd place was achieved by the low handicap pairing of James Hattam & Tony Mitchell of Harpenden Common on 40 points.
The day seemed to be well received on the day with many positive comments of feedback. Our thanks to our hosts on the day Brocket Hall, always a pleasure to have our events there, with surely one of the best clubhouse views in the County and beyond!
