Boys Under 18’s record win and a loss away in Essex

BOYS UNDER 18 TEAM PICTURED AT CRONDON PARK – ESSEX, FROM L TO R, JOSH ROBINSON, LAURENCE ALLEN (LEAD COACH), CASTOR MORRIS, HARRY COX, JAMES BAXTER, LOUIE BLOXHAM, PATRICK DONOVAN, BEN SESSIONS, NOAH PETERS & PETER HOPKINS (TEAM MANAGER)

Report from Boys U18 Team Manager Peter Hopkins;

The U18s approached their second league match of the season, against Essex and Middlesex at Crondon Park Gc, with determination and confidence knowing that everyone would need to be at their very best to record 2 victories, in particular against a very strong Essex team. Led well by Captain James Baxter and multi-County Champion Harry Cox, who both won both of their matches, we started well but then the strength in depth of Essex started to show. Ben Sessions, was level par after 5 holes but 3 down to his Essex opponent, whilst being 4 up against his Middlesex opponent and the results followed from those starts. Louie Bloxham produced some great golf, beating his opponent from Essex and only losing to a miraculous up and down from his Middlesex opponent on the 18th. Patrick Donovan, Noah Peters and Castor Morris all won against Middlesex and Josh Robinson got an excellent half against his opponent from Essex. These results meant that the overall match scores were 3.5-4.5 loss vs Essex and a very pleasing 6-2 victory over Middlesex. 2 wins over BB&O and Middlesex at Old Fold Manor on 27th August in our last match will secure second place in the league.

Thanks to all parents and players, and to Laurence for his help at the match as well.
