Aldred shoots gross 60 in Schools Rosebowl

William Aldred of Brocket Hall won the Herts Schools Rosebowl Scratch event played at Mid Herts played on Monday (31st March) with an incredible gross 60 (-9).

William, a former junior member of Mid Herts, had 9 birdies and 9 pars in his round, consisting of a front 9 of 31 and an inward 9 of 29.

Unfortunately the round can’t be considered as a new course record at Mid Herts as the round was played with preferred lies in operation and with a slightly altered course, with the 5th hole of the standard layout out of action, and the short par 3 practice hole in play. However this shouldn’t detract from what is a tremendous achievement from William and one of the lowest rounds ever achieved in Hertfordshire.

William was some 9 shots ahead of his nearest rivals, Louix Monk and Matthew Gumble, both of The Hertfordshire, on 69 (LVL).

Charlie Wilkinson of Welwyn Garden City was the best U16 in the field with a gross score of 73 (+4).
