13 year old Marcus Karim of East Herts continued his rich vein of form this summer, with a win yesterday (Thu 20 Aug) at our County Boys Under 14 Championship, played at Brookmans Park Golf Club.
Marcus, who won the English Boys Under 14 Championship, the Reid Trophy, at Porters Park GC earlier this month, shot an excellent gross score of 68 -3 to win by 6 clear shots from his nearest rivals in Jack Wilkins of Harpenden Common, who himself had a big win recently at the overall County Boys Championship at Old Fold Manor GC, and Mihir Pasura of Moor Park, again a winner recently in the North of England Under 14 Championship, both on 74 +3.Â
In the Overall Handicap event, the last player to return a score carded an incredible nett 59 -12 to win by 6 shots too. Congratulations to Judd South of Bishop’s Stortford.Â
In the age group championships, the aforementioned Jack Wilkins won the U14 scratch trophy on 74 +3, with the handicap prize going to Krishnan Siani of Hadley Wood on nett 71 level. In the U13 category, Marcus Karim won the trophy with the voucher going down to the 2nd place Mihir Pasura on 74 +3, and the handicap prize went to Cooper Flack of The Hertfordshire on nett 65 -6. In the youngest category, Ryder Eatson of Hanbury Manor won the scratch trophy with 82 +11 and the handicap prize went to Thomas Prestcote of Hadley Wood on a countback on nett 65 -6.Â
Our thanks to Brookmans Park GC for hosting us on the day and we look forward now to the Boys Under 16s Championship, played in conjunction with the Girls Autumn Meeting, played in the Autumn half term, this year at Sandy Lodge GC.Â
