Womens Senior Challenge Winner 2025 – Liz Crede of Essendon

Liz Crede of Essendon wins Inaugural Womens Senior Challenge event
Our inaugural Womens Senior Challenge event took place yesterday (Mon 6 Oct) in the picturesque surroundings of Essendon Country Club. This event allows Senior Women, aged 50 and over, the opportunity to play a singles stableford event over 18 holes, much like the long standing Mens Senior Challenge Trophy event, with the main Womens Senior Championship event now played in conjunction with the County Championship event played in  May/June each year. The event was played on the New Course with excellent conditions for autumn golf, sunny and mild with only the lightest of breeze, unlike the previous weekend. Home advantage proved key as it often does with host club player Liz Crede returning an excellent best of the day 39 points to win the 1st prize over the other 34 competitors taking part. Division 1 (HI 15.4 and below) winner was Julia Bashford of Aldwickbury Park with 32 points and Division 2 (HI 15.5 and above) winner was Cindy Xhang of Brocket Hall, with the 60-69 age category won by Sue Borella of Brickendon Grange and the 70+ age category won by Anne Bagshaw of Essendon. Our thanks to Essendon Country Club for hosting and to those who took part in committing to make the day a success. Next years event is planned to be at Dyrham Park Country Club on the corresponding day, Monday 5th October 2026.
