2014 Boys Champion: Josh Taylor (Mill Green)

Josh Taylor of Mill Green won both the Boys Championship and the Malcolm Reid Trophy for the best U16 score yesterday (Thu 10 Apr) with a superb total of 139 (-3) at Knebworth GC. 

Taylor led at lunchtime by 2 shots in the overall main category with a 70 (-1) from Alex Lee of Stevenage on 72 (+1).

Josh then added a best of the day 69 (-2) in the afternoon round to win by a clear 9 shots from his nearest rivals, Tom Porter of Hadley Wood and Alex Lee of Stevenage on 148 (+6). 

Harry Goddard of Welwyn Garden City was the runner up in the U16 category with a total of 149 (+7), rounds of 75 and 74. 

Taylor also made it a hat trick of wins for him on the day, when added with the scores of George Avgousti and Callum Chamberlain, they won the Team Championship by 3 shots from Welwyn Garden City in 2nd place, represented by Robert Shaw, Harry Goddard and Charlie Wilkinson. 

Josh will now go on and represent Hertfordshire in the England Golf Boys Champion of Champions event at Woodhall Spa on Saturday 13th September.
