Harpenden Common GC create history in Men’s Scratch League

Harpenden Common win Mens Scratch League for record 5 in a row

A MOMENT IN HISTORY – HERTFORDSHIRE GOLF MEN’S SCRATCH LEAGUE – DIVISION 1 CHAMPIONS 2025

Harpenden Common Golf Club (HCGC) have once again been crowned the Division 1 Champions of the Hertfordshire Men’s Scratch Team League, sponsored by Golf Holidays Direct, a quintuple of wins after being crowned the champions in 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024 and now 2025.

As a result of the win, a historic moment was created on two counts.  Never before has a Hertfordshire Golf Club achieved 5 wins in a row in the top division of the Scratch League, but also a member of the team set a record for being the youngest player to play in the HCGC Scratch Team.

Jack Wilkins at just a few weeks after his 13th birthday achieved his goal of playing for the Scratch Team in 2025.  Jack partnered his father Tony in the morning foursomes and in the afternoon singles he won his match on the 17th hole.  Well done, Jack!

The title was won at HCGC against Stocks GC in their recent last match with a convincing win of 9.5 points to 2.5 points.

The Scratch Team League is the County premier Men’s Team matchplay competition, held every year and it is the seventh Division 1 win for HCGC since 2012.

A jubilant Team Captain, Ryan Hodges stated “I was not in the team on the day but I was monitoring progress from Wentworth.  What a season’s performance to make it five in a row in the top division.  The quality of golf at HCGC is amazing.  A big thank you to all the players that represented HCGC in the Scratch Team in 2025”.

Harpenden Common Golf Club are very proud of the achievement as the win demonstrated amazing strength in depth that is required to have a strong team for every match against the top golfers in the County.
