Anderson plays way into last 32 of British Amateur
Tomasz Anderson of Brocket Hall and England has won through to the last 32 of the British Amateur Championship taking place at Royal Portrush this week.
Tomorrow (June 20) morning Tomasz will take on Mathias Eggenberger of Switzerland for a place in the last 16 in the biggest Amateur event played in these isles.
Tomasz made the cut after the 36 hole strokeplay stage, played at Portrush and the nearby Portstewart, on the mark, at +4, and required a preliminary round to make it to the 1st round proper, the last 64.
In the preliminary round, Tomasz took on Michael Kraaij of the Netherlands and won a tight encounter on the last green by the narrowest of margins, 1up.
In the 1st Round, Tomasz again took on another overseas player in Frenchman Mathieu Decottigines-Lafon and took an early 3 up lead through 6 holes, but was pegged back to all square by the 12th tee. Eventually birdies on both the 16th and 17th proved decisive as a 2&1 victory was achieved.
