NEWSFLASH….HOT OFF THE FAIRWAYS…
The Herts Senior Women have won the East Region League following a decisive win against Cambs & Hunts at Gog Magog GC. This is the second time of winning in 4 years. Congratulations and thanks to the entire squad.
Report from Womens Seniors Manager Lindsay Murray-Gray;
The Herts Senior Women played the last match of the 2025 season against Cambs & Hunts at Gog Magog GC. There was everything to play for as a win would put them in contention to win the trophy. The margin however, by which this was necessary, was unclear as Suffolk still had to play Norfolk and it looked like they could catch Herts on points but possibly not games won.
Inspired by a Churchillian speech by team manager Lindsay, i.e. “go out there and do your best”, the team of six more than rose to the challenge. As the results started to filter in, hope was rising and by the time that the last player off the course reported her result, it was pretty clear that, unless the results on the league website were incorrect, Herts had won the league. How did they do this? By winning 6 – 0. What a result.
Thanks to everyone for playing and supporting the squad this season, it’s been epic.
