Charlie Doyle and Harry Eames of Berkhamsted Win County Mixed Foursomes

Charlie and Harry with the County Mixed Foursomes Shield at Mid Herts

Mid Herts Golf Club welcomed players from around the county for our annual County Mixed Foursomes.

The course was presented in excellent condition given the summer we have had and for the most part the recent rain stayed away until after play.

Played over 36 holes, this scratch event tests every aspect of your game and sees the men tee off from the odd holes in the morning and the women in the afternoon to balance everything out.

It was Charlie Doyle and Harry Eames who stole the show in the morning, having never played together, in fact meeting each other for the first time on the day, straight away hit it off.

A morning round of 72 +1 gave them a 4 stroke advantage at lunch over Kelly Cooke and Peter Hutcherson.

It was Mid Herts home players Lindsay Murray-Gray and David Rhodes who shot the round of the afternoon, matching the 72 from Charlie and Harry in the morning. Having shot a morning 81, they would have to wait and see how much this would elevate them up the leaderboard.

It would ultimately secure them Runners Up spot as Charlie and Harry’s afternoon 79 was enough to see them home winners by 2 shots.

In the handicap prize, Wendy Plummer and Andrew Gardner took victory with an overall nett total of 139
