County Mens Seniors Team finish season in 2nd place

Match report –League Herts Seniors v BB&O Seniors (Away)

The Mens Senior County team played their 3^rd League match on Thursday August 21^st away to BB&O at Harewood Downs.

The match was pivotal in our League season against one of our main rivals for the League title. Having been unbeaten we went into the match with confidence, although last minute withdrawals from probably our two most in form players, meant every point would count. John Ambridge manged a half in the opening match and Tony Grover won to win the 4^th match. With wins from Phil Embleton and Simon Kay in the middle order it meant our final three needed some success. Unfortunately, it wasn’t to be, despite matches going to the 18^th.

The final result was a loss of 6 ½ to 3 ½ against a strong BB&O team. Whilst this doesn’t mean the League is lost, it does mean we need a sizeable victory in our final match against Bedfordshire, next week.

Match report –League Herts Seniors v Bedfordshire (Home)

The Senior County team played its final league match of the season on a lovely sunny day at West Herts Golf Club.

The match provided with us with a chance to win the League, but only with a very sizeable win due to the match points advantage held by BB&O.

We got off to a good start, in fact we won all our first 7 matches. Unfortunately, Beds had some good players held back for their tail and we only managed to win one of the three remaining games. The result being an 8-2 victory, which left us short on match points in trying to overhaul BB&O. Even if we had won 9-1 we would still have lost the League on head-to-head results.

We had some great support on the day from team members and our County President Jane Walter.  

A great season with so many contributing to the team, a big thank you to all players and of course West Herts for looking after us throughout the year.
