Lewis Salthouse Wins Overall Boys U14’s Championship After Thrilling 3 Hole Play-Off

Tough, windy conditions welcomed Hertfordshire’s U14 Boys to their annual Championship at Knebworth Golf Club.

However, despite the unseasonal like challenges, it didn’t prevent the boys from putting on a masterclass of golfing prowess, producing some excellent scoring round the challenging course.

It all came to an exciting climax, with Lewis of West Herts returning a 74 that was to be matched by George Lancaster of Sandy Lodge. So it required play off holes to separate them. After matching each others scores down 1 & 18, it took another trip down the 1st to decide a winner. George’s long drive straight down the middle unfortunately found the cross bunkers, leaving him unable to find the green in regulation. Lewis remained calm and his regulation par was enough to secure the title.

With more than one title on offer, George did receive the consolation of U14 champion, Lewis taking the U13 title and Marcus Karim of East Herts, still just 10 years of age, taking the U12 title.
