East Region Womens Foursomes Championship 2026

Regional Foursomes Championship played at Letchworth GC on Wednesday 29th April

Hertfordshire hosted the East Region Womens Foursomes Championship this week (played on Wednesday 29th April), held at Letchworth Golf Club.

The event saw 38 pairs from all over the region competing over 36 holes to determine the Regional Foursomes Champions.

The region consists of Bedfordshire, Cambs & Hunts, Essex, Hertfordshire, Norfolk & Suffolk.

The course was presented in excellent condition with the greens in fantastic early season shape, very true and fast.

Although the day was bathed in sunshine throughout, a strong and gusty wind persisted throughout the day and certainly made things even more challenging for all concerned.

Our winners on the day of the main scratch event were the Suffolk pair of Abbie Symonds of Ipswich GC and Alice Barlow of Bury St Edmunds GC with a gross 158 +14 across the day. Alice was the defending champion, albeit with a different partner for this years event. The handicap event was won on an afternoon countback after 2 pairs had tied on 145 nett +1 for the day. Linda Reeve & Elaine Meagher of Aldwickbury Park narrowly clinched the top spot over the sister pairing of Julie & Aly Nedza – Julie of Hadley Wood and Aly of Welwyn Garden City.

The event was enjoyed by all and most of the partners still seemed to be on talking terms at the end of the day!
