County Mixed Greensomes KO Final
Winners John Horsley & Liz O’Hare Runners Up Chris & Carol Pomroy
The 2023 Mixed Greensomes Final took place at Knebworth Golf Club on Thursday 26th October.
Both sets of players had battled through the early tournament match rounds to come face to face in the finals and the added twist, a first in Hertfordshire Golf history, of being all from the same Golf Club!
Welyn Garden City Club Captain John Horsley and his playing parter Liz O’Hare found themselves facing their friends and fellow WGC members Chris and Carol Pomroy.
Although John & Liz were giving 9 shots to Chris and Carol, John and Liz won the match 2 &1.
The day started with an annoying mizzle but cleared up and although the course was undeniably damp, conditions improved as the sun came out. This did mean however that the course was not busy and I feel that all four players had an ejoyable time as they obviously had lots in common.
Alistair Frazer of Old Fold Manor GC was the walking referee for the event and the Knebworth GC Events Manager, Emma Brooke, made sure everything ran smoothly with the excellent post match food & beverage.
It was a pleasure to present John and Liz with the Trophy and a glass memento each, plus vouchers for all four players.
