JOHN AMBRIDGE PICTURED EARLIER IN THE YEAR WITH THE COUNTY SENIORS TROPHY

Hertfordshire’s most decorated amateur golfer added yet another title to his collection last week, when he claimed the Alan Hobson Trophy for the South East Seniors Championship, at Wanstead in North East London.

John shot a 36 hole gross total of 138 (level) with scores of 68 (-1) on Day 1 and 70 (+1) on Day 2, to win by 4 shots from his nearest rival, Tim Whittaker of Beaconsfield on 142 (+4). Another Herts Senior Bob Head of Moor Park was in 3rd position on 143 (+5).

John’s success keeps the trophy in Hertfordshire after Mike Ready’s win at the event last year at Reading Golf Club in Berkshire.
