A trip to the beautiful Norfolk course of Royal Norwich was the way the Herts Senior Women finished the East Region season. The weather was perfect for golf, something we have rarely been able to say this year and the course was looking great.
However, at one point the teams thought it might be their last ever game of golf so it was handy that it was such a lovely setting; two fighter jets were scrambled from the nearby airbase and the ‘explosions’ (i.e. sonic booms) sounded so close both teams thought that bombs had gone off in the clubhouse. Happily not, but there had been a major air traffic emergency that they were assured had ultimately been safely resolved.
Back on the course the length of the holes and the large tricky greens made it a challenge worthy of the end of season fixture. The matches were all tight with two of them finishing all square and a third concluding on the 18th to secure the final point that meant the match was halved overall.
As ever all of these matches were played in great spirit. Thanks to all of the players for their dedication to the team this season, let’s get practicing for 2025 now!
