The 2018 England Boys squad has recently been announced and we are delighted to report that Hertfordshire have 3 of the 10 boys selected from across the country.
Harry Goddard of Hanbury Manor retains his place in the squad and it now the senior member of the squad with the most experience. Harry plays of +3 handicap and was part of the winning Home International England Boys team in both 2016 and 2017.
Max Hopkins of Bishops Stortford has had a stellar 2017 season and at just 14 years old is one of the youngest in the squad. Max plays off +1 handicap and won the HGU Boys Championship in July and finished runner up in the McGregor Trophy, the English Boys Under 16 Strokeplay Championship.
Ben Pierleoni of Berkhamsted, like Max takes his place in the England Boys squad for the 1st time. 15 year old Ben plays off a scratch handicap and won the South East Group Junior Championship in May and represented England Under 16’s this season.
The squad has a distinct South East look to it with 6 of the 10 Boys selected from either Herts, Surrey or BB&O.
The HGU congratulate Harry, Max and Ben on their selection and wish them all the best in their regional and national endeavours next year.
