Laying a club on the ground for alignment

A player sets down a club to help position their feet for their next stroke but removes the club before hitting the ball. Is their a penalty?

Answer YES – Rule 10.2(3) A player must not set an object down to help with aiming or to help in taking a stance for the stoke to be made. They cannot avoid the penalty by removing the object before the stroke is made.
