Mens Senior Champion Club 2025 – Old Fold Manor GC

Old Fold Manor claim Mens Seniors Team title at Brookmans Park

One of our most popular and over-subscribed events of the year took place this week, Wednesday 21st May, with the playing of our Mens Senior Champion Club event, held this year at Brookmans Park GC.

The event sees 3 x male senior golfers per club playing 18 holes scratch medal strokeplay, with all scores combined to create a team score, with the lowest team score winning the event.

On arrival, some light drizzle greeted the players, of which is the first rainfall many of us had seen in some weeks. Thankfully, the rain moved away and conditions for the event were mild and overcast, although the sun did make an appearance in the early afternoon that pushed the temperatures up somewhat.

Defending Champions were Berkhamsted and they posted a good score of 230 +17, equalled by Harpenden Common, albeit that a cumulative countback of back 9s across the teams meant that Berkhamsted held the advantage with a few groups left to come in off the course.

In the very last group Tom Kilbey of Old Fold Manor did just enough to ensure the title went to the Barnet based club, in no small part helped by a best of the day gross 71 (level) by the always steady Paul Nancarrow. Old Fold Manor’s cumulative score of 228 (+15) would take the title by 2 shots from Berkhamsted in 2nd and Harpenden Common in 3rd.

Our thanks to our hosts Brookmans Park for their hospitality on the day and congratulations to our winners.
