MATCH REPORT FROM LINDSAY MURRAY-GRAY
HERTS SENIOR WOMEN SWAP SUFFOLK SAND FOR BERKSHIRE SANDMARTINS
It’s been a busy August for the women’s senior squad who packed up their buckets and spades after the trip to the Suffolk coast and swapped them for binoculars for their match against Berks at Sandmartins GC.
The new parkland course just outside Wokingham required careful plotting around with a few holes that challenged your distance control to the limit. Unfortunately, the Berkshire team were more adept at that than the Herts women, although only a little. The net result of this was another closely run loss as Berkshire won 4-3. Let’s hope it’s not becoming a habit.
Given the name of the course, the bird spotters in the team were hoping for a sighting of a sandmartin but it seemed that Tuesdays are away days for them too.
Many thanks to all of the team for playing and to Sally Odell for waiting in the wings for the emergency call.
