Darcie West of Sandy Lodge secured victory in the Girls County Championship at Knebworth Golf Club.
On a day which started cool, wet and windy, it led to the first few holes being played in far from summer like conditions. Though the rain soon relented, the strong winds made for tough scoring.
However, fresh from a fantastic run all the way through to the quarter finals of the R&A Girls Championship at Alwoodley Golf Club the previous week, Darcie maintained her recent run of form with a round of 72 -1 . 4 shots clear from runner up Alecia Ibekwem, also of Sandy Lodge.
In the handicap results, Lilly Newton of Bishop’s Stortford returned an excellent nett 69 -4, 2 shots clear of runner up, Anya Martin of Verulam Golf Club.
Darcie will go on to compete in the Girls Champion of Champions at Woodhall Spa early next month. We wish her well.
