Boys Under 16’s are in Good Hands

Herts Boys U16's defeat Middlesex 6-2 and draw with Bedfordshire 4-4 at Harpenden GC

Report from Boys U16 Manager Graham Oram;

With the Boys under 16’s unable to reach the group finals this year the opportunity was taken to select, for this home fixture at Harpenden Golf Club, a team that embodied a blend of youth and experience. In fact, 5 of the boys that played will be able to compete at this age group category next year.

Whilst not all were successful on Sunday, they each demonstrated that they possess the desire, enthusiasm and ability, which I am sure will lead to success for this team next year. Our league opponents will be further East in 2025 when we lock horns with Norfolk and Suffolk.

The matches on Sunday saw the team defeat Middlesex 6 – 2 and draw with Bedfordshire 4 – 4. This means that during the season there were 3 wins, 2 draws and one loss. A total of 16 boys, including 3 different captains, have played for the team and I should like to thank all of them for their support, commitment and for the fun we have all enjoyed. A special mention must go the coach Matt Spencer who has been a tower of strength in developing and improving the team’s performance.

It’s been a delight being part of this group.
