Ashridge mens Scratch team 4 - 4 Mens County Seniors Team
Match report –Friendly Herts Mens Seniors v Ashridge Scratch (Away) from Mens Seniors Captain Simon Kay
Just as the sun came out, the County Seniors dusted down their clubs and had their first game of the season against Ashridge Scratch team. This is the first of 3 friendlies before the official start to our ’24 campaign.
The match was played on a lovely spring day with the course starting to show some relief from the recent wet weather. This year the Ashridge’s scratch captain decided that the match would be 8 singles games. As is the case with this fixture the Seniors had to ignore the difference in distance off the tee and play to our strengths, although the course was not only playing long off the back tees but many of the pin positions were in extremely hard locations.
The first 2 games were halved (Simon Kay and Paul Nancarrow) and wins from Paul Marshall, Dominic Ronan and Jon Earl meant the result was a 4-4 draw.
As ever, our thanks to Ashridge for their hospitality. Our next friendly is against Surrey on April 22nd.
