Report from Mens Senior Captain Simon Kay;
Match report –League Herts Seniors v Beds (Away)
The Senior County team played its final league match of the season at the Bedfordshire GC on a windy and stormy day. For some reason the conditions seemed to suit the home team more than us!
Whilst many matches were close, apart from Paul Marshall’s 8/7 victory, it would be fair to suggest that we were not at out best. However, wins for David Lang, Phil Embleton and Gordon Stewart provided some hope but with a half from Simon Kay, and then other losses, we never managed to turn this into a victory, for once. The end match result being a loss of 5 ½ – 4 ½ . A disappointing end to a rather fragmented League campaign, especially with out last few matches being dead rubbers.
We now move on to the Foursomes Final at Weston-Super-Mare next week, still with a hope of some silverware for the year.
