Alex Collman named as 1st Team Captain County
ALEX COLLMAN OF WEST HERTS WITH THE COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP TROPHY IN 2012
The County 1st Team will have a new captain for the 2016 season with the recent appointment of Alex Collman of West Herts.
Alex will be assisted by the County 1st Team Manager, also a new appointment, County Secretary Louis Matamala.
The 1st Team play in the South East Group League and play against local counties, Bedfordshire, Middlesex, Essex and BB&O each year for the right to represent the Northern Division in the South East Group County Final. They also play in the England Golf County Championship qualifier each year, which next year takes place at Calcot Park in BB&O. The winners of each region then meet at the National Final for the chance to call themselves County Champions. Hertfordshire last won the South East League in 2009, (tied with Hampshire) and last won the National County Championship in 1986.
Alex is a well known figure around the county and has been Scratch Team Captain at West Herts for some time. Alex’s greatest victory to date was when he won the County Championship at his home club in 2012, defeating Matt Wallace in the final.
